1. Well protection from sunlight and cold weather for Wells with Tanks & Neutralizers. Freezing temperatures will burst pipes and rupture tank bladder and void warranties. Sunlight will cause algae to grow in the tanks and can cause filters to stop up as well as become health hazard. Wells without tanks normally do not freeze.
A. Pump houses should be built airtight and insulated completely with thermo-ply insulation. Fiberglass insulation will get wet and fall to ground. A 100-watt light bulb will produce enough heat to keep the system from freezing when insulated properly in a small pump house. Do not use a florescent bulb as they do not build much heat. Wrapping pipes & tank will not help prevent them from freezing!
You can order a plug in 110 Thermostat online and set on 35*. Plug old lamp in turn on and your good to go. Please remember to leave 12” to 14” clearance above tanks for maintenance purposes.
B. If you do not have time to build a pump house in a timely manner you can cover with a dark color tarp for a short period of time and use a heat lamp to keep pipes & tank from freezing.
C. Pump houses can be made of most any material you choose from brick, wood or metal. Just consider the door needs to be large enough to remove tank in the future. The pump has to come straight up from the 4” Well one day when it has to be replaced. Keep all rafters and beams off the center of the Well. When tin roofs are used center a piece of tin over the Well head for easy access to the pump in the future.
2. Clyde’s offers a variety of Water Treatment options for your Well. Please ask if you have any concerns and we will be happy to answer any questions.
3. Clyde’s Well Service offers a yearly Well maintenance program. We come out once a year to service the Well. We check the amps on the Pump Motor, pressure settings, air in Tank and any water treatment system we have installed to make sure they are working properly. Tanks with low air cause the system to cycle on and off more often using more electricity and shorten the life of the Pump. All service calls are entered in our Computer Program, so we have a record of all work competed by us on your Well System. It is recommended that you have a chloroform bacterium test every 2 years on your drinking water to assure everything is safe within your system. Water System Council Website has further Well owner info at www.watersystemscouncil.org
You will not know the worth of water until the pump goes down!
Please protect your investment.
Clyde’s Well Service Thanks you for the opportunity to serve your Water Well needs!
